Didier and the countess

Series: «Les cahiers noirs»
© 2009

A judge in Turin, Italy, is investigating a case of how the Italian political parties are being financed and issues two international orders of arrest for a countess and her male friend, both living in France. He believes them to be of key importance to the case. In Paris at a reception Commissioner Didier runs into – by chance of so it seems – Inspector Wolf, formerly of Interpol and now with the Ministry of Interior. He recounts a rather unclear story in which important persons of high regard in the French government are mixed up. She understands that “high up” there is serious concern that the international interests of France could be damaged. Not really in agreement with it all, Didier must accept the assignment, without yet knowing which truth is the truth to follow. She’s immediately entangled in political plots and arms smuggling but, with her acumen, in the end she survives.
